2019 Carlson Road Dam Project Begins

Work on the Sawyer County funded and Wisconsin DNR approved project to remove the Carlson Road dam and replace it with a concrete box culvert began on Tuesday, December 03, 2019. Work is expected to take at least a week to complete.

The contractor has constructed a temporary bypass road around the work area for local residents only. Note that access through the work area may be restricted at certain times during construction; therefore access is restricted to only property owners beyond the construction area.

To satisfy those curious about construction progress we have created a photo log of the construction which anyone can access periodically for updates.

Here is a video clip of the roadway section of the old dam being removed by the two excavators onsite.

Here is a video showing the placement of one section of the new concrete box culvert. One excavator brings the section to the work area, then the two excavators work together to turn the section and marry it to the outlet end sections.
